There are two singers named Kim Hill

(1) Kim Hill is an African-American neo-soul singer-songwriter, best known for being the backup vocalist in the hip-hop band Black Eyed Peas (Pre-Fergie) before going solo. The New York born, Los Angeles based singer learned how to play the violin and piano at the age of six and studied dance with the legendary Judith Jamison. She is known for her commentary on female body image during live performances.

(2) Kim Hill (born on December 30, 1963 in Starkville, Mississippi) is an American Christian singer, songwriter and chastity advocate, active since the early 1990s. She has won several Dove Awards. Hill made quite a name for herself in the Christian Music industry in the late 1980s, with two pop/rock Beatlesque albums, produced by Wayne Kirkpatrick, Talk About Life and Brave Heart.

    I think whoever has the most scrobbles between the artists sharing the same name should have their picture as the default. :) Problem solved.

    for the moment, until a better scheme is found, the genre distinction would be sufficient concerning the two artists that i currently know this to be a problem with. if it was just Kim, i could see the difficulty justifying the extra programming. but the problem is getting bigger as the database grows. a solution needs to be found before it gets out of hand. right now just an addition of genre to the sequel select would suffice. we can look at the database and find a community solution later. it needs to be done for the good of all. CBS can't go wrong if they allow us programmers that are community members to help. :)

    Big hugs to everyone, no matter which Kim you enjoy! lol From a programming point of view it would be really difficult to separate artists with similar or identical names because it would need distinguishing information, some of which requires artist participation and some of which may change from time to time. For instance, if we separate Kill Hills, do we do it by genre? What if either Kim was to change the genre they perform in? Do we do it by record label? Some artists on LastFM aren't signed. Do we do it by tags? Tags are user inputed, and some aren't accurate. I'd like to see it happen, but I'm not sure how we'd do it. Although I suspect some of the evolving "face recognition" software could be used to achieve it. (But would CBS pay for that just to improve LastFM?)

    i agree about separation. i don't care to see the picture of some other person when it is not their song playing any more than the offensive speaking people here. this site needs to be more respectful than that. if it's a kimHill#1 song playing, only show her photo. if it's a kimHill#2 song playing, only show her photo. kim is not the only artist this happens to. this marketing technique of showing the other artist is only getting on user's bad side. we do have other options and will go elsewhere if the offense continues. :(

    Well, I'm glad to see the key photo actually represents the more popular of the two artists, although I'm a bit dismayed that we're using words like "twit" and "imbecile" get our points across. Its Last FM, its not that deep. We don't want to start some kind of "war of images".

    Kim Hill, the neo soul singer is actually getting more "spins" than the other Kim, but her pics are getting voted down on purpose. If you want the pics to reflect the popularity, vote up the pics that represent the artist of your choice.

    She was waaaaay more than the backup singer. If you never saw them live (before they completely Sold Out) you really missed out. Check the videos from their first album, "Behind The Front"
