A fabulous song! Perhaps her best song released as a single! It is most cetainly more impressive than the hugely overrated "Bette Davis Eyes."

It is amazing and totally unexpected that one of Smokey's lesser-known songs got such a great cover from Ms. Kim Carnes. I can never get enough of that opening instrumentation -- and my God, her vocal on this song is absolutely, positively, without-a-doubt one of pop music's greatest vocals by a woman ever! She's obviously not a great singer like some of the GREATS, but damn, this is one of her finest moments. I think this may be in the top 5 of the greatest Smokey covers ever. The others in the top 5 would include Luther Vandross, Linda Ronstadt, the Temptations & the famous Michael Jackson cover of "Who's Lovin' You". Bob Dylan was very right to dub Smokey "America's greatest living poet", I believe the quote was! Long live Smokey!!!!!!!
