Pedestal (playful ascerbic folk) (3:30)
From Fits and Starts: Volume One
In this playfully ascerbic sequel to Cryderman’s earlier song “Crawling After You,” the narrator has now gained some critical distance from his earlier quixotic sentiments that placed him in a passive, vulnerable and subservient position in relation to the ‘object’ of his affection. Now wanting to overcome this objectification and naivete, which stupidly put him in a position to be taken for granted and constrained her identity and freedom of movement on the pedestal, he now he considers playfully tipping her off the pedestal so they can both roll around and interact on a level playing field as equals in the mud.
He takes responsibility for the repeating Petrarchan loop and starts to move beyond it. Continuing in this song series is “Paper Cup.”
