Larger Than Life (lo-fi country pop) (4:05)
From Fits and Starts: Volume Two
Recorded with a ridiculously ultra-cheap microphone and cassette recorder, this is a lo-fi mono recording of Cryderman from his early days singing his country pop song “Larger Than Life” with Alex Randell and bluegrass singer Lorraine Cobb (The Mountain Bluebirds, Viper Central), the only extant recording of the song. The song was only ever performed a few times and was long-relegated to Cryderman’s infamous ‘round file’ until rescued from a dog-eared cassette tape buried in the Cryderman archives and treated with audio restoration software to remove the copious amounts of tape hiss.
In this take on country pop, the topic of the lyrics is fame, with the two key figures here being Michael Jackson and Madonna: two of the most famous music artists at the time of the song’s composition.
