There was so many animal tracks to to choose from that I needed some kind of theme to filter through them all. Eventually, I came up with this...
According to Chinese legend, the twelve animals quarreled one day as to who was to head the cycle of years. The gods were asked to decide and they held a contest: whoever was to reach the opposite bank of the river would be first, and the rest of the animals would receive their years according to their finish.
All the twelve animals gathered at the river bank and jumped in. Unknown to the ox, the rat had jumped upon his back. As the ox was about to jump ashore, the rat jumped off the ox's back, and won the race. The pig, who was very lazy, ended up last. That is why the rat is the first year of the animal cycle, the ox second, and the pig last.

25 Oct 2006, 15:03 by tenderbranson692004, John Peel (a.k.a. John Robert Parker Ravenscoft) died in Cuzco, Peru of a heart attack, aged 65. He was BBC’s longest-serving radio DJ and the first DJ to introduce The Ramones, Roxy Music, The Smiths, The Fall, Rod Stewart, Blur, The Sex Pistols, T. Rex and others to the masses. He founded Dandelion Records in 1969, which released records by Kevin Coyne, Bridget St John and Medicine Head. He was also known for his ‘Peel Sessions’, releases of live radio sessions. Peel was appointed an OBE in 1998.
2003, Johnny Cash's step-daughter, Rosey Nix Adams and her fiddle player Jimmy Campbell were found dead on their tour bus in Clarksville, Tennessee from Carbon monoxide poisoning. Heaters that had been left on were blamed for the accident.
2001, 13 law firms were still involved in claims to Grateful Dead's guitarist Jerry Garcia's $10m estate six years after his death. Former wives & girlfriends continued to fight on how to distribute his estate and annual royalties of $4.6m.
28 May 2006, 08:58 by Woodshed1The route of the English boy with acoustic guitar is not one to take if you’re after fame and fortune. Even Richard Thompson, who has now officially reached legendary status, has never sold single record in this country – not one – ever.
Your best bet is to wait thirty years after your death for some influential hipster with a fetish for obsolete audio equipment to find your Sony Minidisc in a car boot sale.
Which is why I’m not going to be making any big predictions for my favourite new discovery this year Sam Beer. I’ve learnt my lesson from spending two years predicting the impending Judee Sill revival to anyone who’d listen (which, after about 3 weeks of predicting a Sill revival, was precisely no one).
Sam Beer makes folky-blues music with some nifty finger-picking and sounds, at times, a great deal like Kevin Coyne. You can download an entire album’s worth of stuff on his website.
…all hail to the ale, and a glass of white wine – for the ladies.

12 Sep 2005, 23:17 by andrewbilesWell, in my mind the credit card is probably the most evil thing ever invented. Fuck knows how I'm ever going to pay off the money I've spent on it along with my student loan. I guess, like the South Park I saw the other day, I can forget about it for a couple of years, everything will be fine by then. (The South Park episode was one where they blame a friend for setting the teacher on fire when they were three or something and then basically say, "sod it. In five years he'll have forgotten". The kid then comes back to kill them and yadda, yadda, yadda they survive).
Anyway, I've been doing a bit of cataloging that I've been meaning to do for years (in some cases) now.....
