Another in that long line of great musical eccentrics that were allowed to make records back then

This track and ' Song for Insane TImes' are my favourite tracks on 'Joy of a toy' and indeed of any Kevin Ayers recording. I first heard this on vinyl 30 years ago and it became one of those songs which would always there among the songs of which I could never tire.

I adore Kevin Ayers. Went from supremely commercial to wildly experimental but the one constant is that rich honeyed voice.

Loved Ayers for years but giggled a bit when I realised on this track he sounds esp like Roger Waters but with his anger circuit tweezered by several glasses of wine and a fine sunset. Or ten. Lovely and inimmitablllllle

today the town seems like a tomb, everybody is locked up in his room... making love or taking love, who cares? perfect... i think the only ayers-song that comes close to this one is "may i"....

What a wonderful man Mr Ayers truly is. His voice is akin to wine-soaked candy floss.
