Tom ‘Ketchfish’ Inglis - born in 1958 in Whitman, Massachusetts to a musical family. His sister, Lynn Walsh is a popular local blues singer, brother Steve Inglis sang briefly with a 50’s cover band, father Ivan still sings barbershop, plays guitar and sings in church. Growing up, his family sang together, were active in their church’s various choirs (Sisters Lynn Walsh, Patricia Smith and father Ivan still active with church music, as are many of the next generation in his family).

Tom’s musical interests were, and remain today, wide ranging. Everything from classical, cowboy songs, doo-wop, broadway musicals, jazz, rockabilly, country, folk, pop, blues and rock got regular play on the family record player as he grew up and he loved them all. He took up guitar, following in his father’s footsteps, at age 10 after a brief flirtation with drums and keyboards. His first band, “The Feet” played three songs: Wild Thing, Classical Gas and their ‘theme song’, penned by Inglis, “We’re the Feet” which featured the hardly memorable refrain, “We’re the Feet, We’re the Feet, We’re the Feet, and our feet are incredibly neat”. They had one show for Tom’s 4th grade class before the spring vacation which made them ‘stars’ of their elementary school for about 10 minutes.

Tom didn’t take lessons, preferring to learn by ear and from instructional and ‘fake’ books he got at the local music store. His pride and joy was a Sears Dreadnaught Acoustic he received from Mom and Dad for Christmas one year. It was his faithful companion and confidante for years.
