I'm surprised more people don't know about her music, but, then, it's actually a good thing. Not so much for her.

2010 release is not by THAT Kendra Smith. There's another K.Smith dealing with gospel/religious music.

(ok, so the cabin in the woods part is pretty much covered in her biography above. Ignore everything in my last shout except for the pointless speculation on her future ;) )

    >>>where is she?>>> As of the mid- late '90s, she was holed up in a unibomber-style shack in the Northern California wilderness, armed with nothing but a donkey, a field organ, solar panels, and hopefully a creaky reel-to-reel and a few hundred miles of tape. In another decade she'll release a brilliant 8-disc box set of home recordings and a dodgy EP (ft. Devendra Banhart) of old sea shanties & murder ballads. After doing a few sparsely-attended gigs with Steve Wynn, she'll go back to being an awesome hermit.

Kendra Smith is an amazing musician. I saw her last NYC show before she disappeared completely...
