Biography

Keith Mina Caputo is a singer/songwriter from Brooklyn, NY, best known as the lead singer of the alternative metal band Life of Agony. Caputo is also a well established solo artist, especially in Europe. She has toured with numerous well-known bands such as Coldplay and Travis.

As of 2008, Caputo has released three full length albums, namely Died Laughing (2000), Hearts Blood On Your Dawn (2006) and A Fondness For Hometown Scars (2008). Other releases include Died Laughing Pure (2001), Perfect Little Monsters (2002) and Live Monsters (2004).

She describes her solo music as ‘edgy romance in the medium of rock ‘n’ roll’. In contrast to the heavy sound of Life of Agony, the majority of Caputo’s solo efforts are more in the range of acoustic to soft rock. Her lyrics are known to be very personal with a wide variety of themes.

Next to being the lead vocalist for the band Life of Agony, she is known to write the majority of the band’s lyrics (together with bass player Alan Robert), and has been known to write some of their music.

Caputo has lent her vocals for the song ‘Tired N’ Lonely’ off Roadrunner United’s The AllStar Sessions and has sung for the band Freax. More recently, she has provided vocals for Within Temptation’s single ‘What Have You Done’.

In 2011, Caputo announced her transition from male to female. She is now calling herself Keith Mina Caputo.

@Shaunography in this case I agree with @milta, scrobbling as Keith Caputo should be OK.

@Shaunography: i think, she will bring out new releases under her new name so there will be a new last.fm page. Just scrobble the old stuff with the old tags, i think, her labels will not re-release the old Caputo albums just with a new name ;)

I'm completely down with the sex change, my only concern is under which name do we tag the music, for Last.fm purposes? I have over 400 plays for Keith so I'm reluctant to change my tags now! =p

Definitely agree with musicfiend91 & Tauf76. Why care about gender? If (s)he'd been born and raised as a girl and if (s)he'd written these tunes as a physical lady, you wouldn't have cared either, would you? Or would you have been sexist enough to disrespect music because it had been written by a woman in the first place? I don't fucking hope so. It's not about gender, it's about music and people who dare to be themselves!

I Agree With Tauf76. It Takes Alot of Courage to Come Out as Homosexual or to Get a Gender Change at the Risk of Losing Alot of Your Fanbase Because of Their Ignorance, Especially Because of How Judgemental or How Harassive (That is a Word Right?) They Can Be.

Let me clear myself: There's too much homofobic, xenofobic and transfobic(is that a real word?)in the world! Facts are that Keith is a person who dares to be himself, puts his feelings in his songs and acts in an intellectuel way wich is highly admirable!

@M4rc0_52: You Fool!! If you have ever listend to his songs properly, you've know he's tormented! It's defenitly stupid to react like that! You have any doubts yoursel, perhaps??
