Keiichi Suzuki (鈴木慶一; August 28, 1951) is a Japanese composer and performer, known for his music for the Super Nintendo game EarthBound. Recently, his work has been featured in Uzumaki and Tokyo Godfathers.

Keiichi Suzuki was born in Tokyo, Japan. In the 1970s, he became involved with the Japanese band “Hachimitsu Pie,” who released one album in 1973. Suzuki’s true notoriety comes from his work with the long-lived Moon Riders, who became one of Japan’s most innovative rock bands. Suzuki functioned as the occasional-leader and regular singer of the band—the group’s first album was in fact credited to “Keiichi Suzuki and the MOONRIDERS”—which also included his brother Hirofumi. Suzuki will also be familiar to fans of the Yellow Magic Orchestra for his various collaborations with Yukihiro Takahashi, most notably on the material credited to “The Beatniks.”

He also composed music for a number of films, including The Blind Swordsman: Zatoichi, Tokyo Godfathers, and Chicken Heart. As an actor, Suzuki appeared in 1980, Body Drop Asphalt, Swallowtail Butterfly, and other films from the late ’90s and early 2000’s. He also worked as a programmer and character designer for a number of videogames, including Batman (1989) and Gremlins 2: The New Batch (1990).

In America, Keiichi Suzuki is known for his eccentric music style that is best embodied in his most famous work: EarthBound for the SNES.

I always forget I have the Zatoichi because my fool computer keeps renaming the artist as "soundtrack." But I listened today. I was really surprised by the breakbeat thing in A House on Fire!

if that's all you've heard, then you're really missing out. His soundtrack work is great (Zatoichi especially) and the Moonriders are awesome as well. Not that EarthBound isnt the greatest musical work of all time, but his other stuff is definitely worth checkin out.

Like others, I consider Earthbound's soundtrack to be outstanding. other than that I have little to add. [2]
