Shallow? :) I don't think so. And the best songs sometimes are sometimes simple. Personally, I am fan of all their sounds from Hopes & Fears till now. Besides, I like to dance along to this one. *s* But to each their own, as they say.
I love how Keane sticks to some basic guidelines of traditionally good songs. Dynamic melodies and counter-melodies, and understandable, but not predictable lyrics. They have stuck to these principles while developing their sound.
I really hope they stick around a while. They're really underrated because they're compared to Coldplay, who got popular much earlier.
This track has got to be the best think Keane have done since Bedshaped. New, different, exciting and with one of the best guitar riffs you'll hear this year (that's right I said guitar riff!). The new album has 3 or 4 instant likeability. Also 3 or 4 instant Keane classics. Overall an unmistakeable Keane album. Spiralling has takem me some to time to get to like and the last two tracks I think try a bit too hard to be 'poetic, beautiful and profound'. Still a quality album and to achieve this on their third outing is exceptional.
