Visions come, visions come in a sickroom bed
There's something left to learn
Pass them on, let it show, let the rich meet death
Confront out own concern

EternalExodus gets it. Music with a pop influence doesn't automatically make said music 'bad' - it depends on how you use said influence. [2]

to be honest, much of the great cold distance is, for lack of a better word, 'pop.' the song structures are simplistic and straightforward; the vocals are clean and they lay at the forefront; and the balance between percussion, rhythmic melody, and vocal are perfectly in proportion with a ton of pop songs. that said, this format lays the groundwork for some of the finest music katatonia has ever penned, including deliberation: the track structure is reminiscent of radio pop, but the instrumentation is entirely different. the percussive, melodic, and harmonic structures are complex and layered; jonas's vocal is passionate and affective; and the overall tone is far more aggressive and depressive than anything you'd likely hear on top 40 radio. it's incredible that this band can keep pumping out these amazing songs with heavy rock sounds and pop structures, and make them refreshing and original. long live katatonia.
