Karsh Kale (pronounced Kursh Kuh-lay), producer, composer and musician, melds the music of his Indian heritage, with the modern electronic club music of his American upbringing. Kale is creating a unique blend of Indian percussion with techno music and drum & bass. Kale’s compositions are often strident, loud, and dense with energy; heavy on the percussion and more instrumental than vocal. In style of Indian Fusion he is closer to Talvin Singh or Ananda Shankar than Bally Sagoo or Bill Laswell.

Kale is also a member of Tabla Beat Science, an “Asian Underground” type of group. He has collaborated with world-known phenomenons such as the Madras Cinematic Orchestra and various tabla masters, like Zakir Hussain. One of his most famous compositions was entitled “Milan”, named after his daughter, who’s Sanskrit name means “meeting of two rivers”.

Kale is prolific, seemingly willing to lend a hand, and drum, to almost anyone from Herbie Hancock to DJ Spooky. He has become a mainstay in Six Degrees Records’ ever expanding series of compilation CDs having appeared on six so far.

His songs “Distance” and “One Step Beyond” are included in the “Samples Songs” folder of the Windows Vista Operating System.

What is wrong with you people??? Karsh Kale is widely known and loved by people who enjoy Asian Fusion. (I didn't even know that he was featured by Windows) He is one of the best producers and artists in the genre- sampler or not.

I actually like the songs from vista's sampler. Artists like Karsh Kale or Habibe Koite & Bamada that I never would have heard of otherwise. Way better than XP's sample tracks, what did they have...some generic classical piece, some generic jazzy piece, and Beck? Yeah, way better.

First of all, because *YOU* heard of him from a windows sampler means nothing about his music. I found out about him through the excellent tracks he has produced with other excellent artists such as Talvin Singh. I happen to think that Karsh Kale makes excellent music, but I wouldn't expect some random windows user to like it. Case in point. Don't base your judgement of an artist on your own lackluster research techniques.

Karsh has played with a wide cross section of artists from Norah Jones and Sting to Serge Tankian and Buckethead to Bassnectar and Paul Oakenfold to the very best world artists. He is very talented and is one of the worlds most sought after fusion artists. His future is very bright!
