WoW... nonstop energy around the Thebby, a kind of show that only a city like Adelaide can turn up for on a weeknight (so says Mr Kenny!).
Pumping straight into tracks from the current Australian #1 album Asymmetry, intersliced with JJJ favourites Themata, Set Fire to the Hive (<3) and All I Know resulted in a rollercoaster of crowd hyperactivity, putting away of shitty camera phones and heightened acknowledgement of crowd etiquette, the crowd moshing was only lite (even for prog rock) but the facial fur was flying with each deconstructed rip of the GORGEOUS Mark Hosking's guitar. The evening culminated in more tracks from Asymmetry including my new favourites: We Are and Nachash/נחש.
These guys have only released 3 albums in 8 years but the onstage antics of all the guys reminds you that they've been taking their Western Australian grunge even to far flung places like India for almost 20 years. Go out and see it or it'll be another 5 years!
