On 1st November 1981 a diva was born! Named after legendary singer Karen Carpenter, this girl was born to sing…her name is Karen Louise.
Born in Hertfordshire, Karen Louise, now 25 years old, discovered her talent for singing after being given a karaoke machine for Christmas at the age of just 7. Karen’s first taste of what it felt like to be on stage was a performance in her local pub aged 14 and by her 15th birthday she was having regular singing lessons and soon took pleasure and comfort from writing and performing her own material. Alongside her music, a gifted athlete she enjoyed competing in all forms of sport and represented her county at netball, hockey and athletics and obtained a black belt in karate.
At the age of 13 Karen Louise suffered from a severe case of Glandular Fever, from which she never fully recovered; what followed was five years of her feeling tired and weak while struggling to achieve top grades at school and still compete in the sports she was so passionate about. In 1999 Karen Louise was finally diagnosed as having the chronic fatigue syndrome Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME). However, her gutsy determination and feisty spirit worthy of Bette Midler has since seen her fight her way back to good health and beyond, through her first steps as a professional singer and songwriter.
Having achieved her academic goal of top A-level grades, Karen Louise made the bold decision to fulfil her greatest ambition and pursue a singing career as a recording artist. Using her wit and determination, she took a temp job, recorded a demo CD and set about finding a way into the music business.
