Biography

Kara is a name of at least four artists.

1) KARA (카라) is a popular South Korean girl group formed by DSP Entertainment, debuting in 2007 with the single “Break It” and the album “The First Blooming”. The group consists of Park Gyuri, Han Seungyeon, Nicole Jung, Goo Hara and Kang Jiyoung. They were originally a four member group where they were marketed as the second Fin.K.L, however Kim Sung Hee withdrew from the group and was replaced with Jiyoung and Hara. They became well known for the “butt dance”, which was a part of their “Mister” choreography, and their hit songs “하니 (Honey)” and “Pretty Girl”. In 2010 they changed to a darker concept with their hit song “Lupin”. In Japan, they are signed under Universal Music. On January 2011, it was stated that four KARA members (all minus Gyuri) filled a lawsuit to terminate their exclusive contracts with DSP Entertainment. However, it was later revealed that Hara decided not to join Seungyeon, Nicole and Jiyoung in terminating her contract. Due the conflict DSP Entertainment suspended any Korean group activities as they declared they will no longer be managing the three members. On the following days reports about the five members and DSP Entertainment meetings surfaced, however the company has not yet released an official statement about a possible agreement. In October of 2013, it was reported that Nicole will depart from the group effective January 2014. Jiyoung is in the process of deciding whether to continue her singing career or focus on school instead.

I was rooting for So Jin. Even though Young Ji wasn't my first choice, I guess it was just meant to be. No reason to get all huffy about it because she won fair and square and she was true to her dream.

has DSP actually said anything official about the other Baby Kara girls? or is it all still just rumors?

I still don't feel Youngji in KARA. Somin would be the best choice for a new member, but, if they chose Youngji instead Somin or Sojin...I feel that the winner has already been chosen way before the reality started. Anyway, I'm still going to support them. KARA got judged when they came back as 5 in 2008 and people said they would be a failure...well people were wrong :3 Let's just give Youngji a chance.

DSP should probably learn how to promote Rainbow and A-JAX better before launching a group with the rest of baby KARA, imo

@Chriyeon I wouldn't call her Hwayoung 2.0... but I really hope those rumors about a Somin,Sojin, Chaekyoung group are true because.. I would love that group instantly

Youngji? Really? I'm very disappointed. [4] And not only that, but they only chose her... Like really? It would have been better to leave them as 3 considering they will still have to redistribute lines and re-learn dances

With that Hwayoung 2.0 and ONLY HER joining KARA, DSP is really setting up the group to disaster. If Somin, Sojin and Chaekyoung debut with a new group (as rumors were flying around), and Rainbow makes a strong comeback, maybe it'll be Bye Bye Kara Days. This group is effing amazing and deserved much better than Youngji and all this DSP sabotage mess.

I was hoping for Youngji or Somin since the beginning, so I'm sooo happy! *______* Congratulations Youngji! ♥

Youngji? Really? I'm very disappointed. [2] DSP are kidding with us, srsly. YoungJi seemed "nice" at first but is notable in ALL Kara Project episodes how she is just... a big crybaby. I will support KARA as a group but particularly, I don't really like Youngji and I'm not going even to try liking her. I wasn't hoping for her victory, I am not obliged to accept her so easily.

A Sojin, SoMin, YoungJi, and Chaekyung group would be ideal (although I like Chaewon, Yooji, and ShiYoon their image does match KARA and they need more training), but if two have to join Kara definitely SoJin and SoMin would fit the best.
