The Kansas Nebraska Act (KNA) are a now defunct indie rock band from Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. Formed in 2002, the lineup of Brad Austin (drums), Thomas Danton (vocals), Martin Edwards (guitar), and Liam Stephenson (bass, backing vocals) would be changed when Andrew Joseph stepped in on bass duties. This lineup would remain throughout many shows in Halifax and Nova Scotia as a whole, culminating in the recording of a four track demo E.P. produced by Jon Epworth, and engineered and mixed by Shane Kerr, both of the Dean Malenkos fame, at the Area 52 Studios in Halifax.

During the final editing and mastering of this EP, Joseph’s side project band, HotShotRobot, began to take up much of his time, and Stephenson was brought back into the fold to help promote the EP’s release. This re-formed starting lineup would play regularly in Halifax promoting the EP, with Danton occasionally taking on rhythm guitar duties, but eventually calling it quits in early Spring 2006, with a final last hurrah at Gus’ Pub in Halifax. This last show was taped for posterity and may see the light of day itself, as it contained an extended set list
of some of the KNA’s most popular songs.
