About this album

Brewing up sounds in his secret lab for over 10 years, perfecting and evolving an organic psychedelic dubby signature, Curtis Humphrey, AKA “Kalpataru Tree”, delivers a unique sonic journey saturated and infused with soul and spirit. Seamlessly weaving organic bass and guitar into creatively inspired digital production, subtle melodies and shifting frequencies gently guider the listener deep into the endless realms of imagination. All songs are produced in a secret hidden Yurt in the forest, near Mt. Shasta, inside groves of cedar and pine trees, and underneath a crystaline night sky. It is this environment that infuses the music with its intention: to capture the frequencies of nature and the mystery of human experience into soul-stirring sonic masterpieces of wonder.

Hailed by many as the one of the greatest chillout releases of 2007, Kalpataru Tree remains under the radar. Aside from the track “Moonbloom” released on the compilation “Moonshadow Beats”, and a digital release on san francisco’s now defunct “”, Kalpataru Tree has remained independent from the labels, perhaps because it doesn’t quite fit the mold. Half-electronic, half organic, an orchestration of synthesizers, chill beats, live bass lines, and guitar and voice instrumentation - its truly genre defying music.
