Diamant til kull (4:45)

“Diamant til kull” (“Diamond into Coal”) is the third single from Kaizers Orchestra’s sixth studio album, Violeta Violeta Volume I. It was hand-picked by Norwegian radio station P3 as a single from the album, as part of an agreement the band made when they insisted on making “Philemon Arthur & the Dung” the first radio single; the band have later admitted that its radio appeal was less than what P3 had hoped for.

“Diamant til kull” is notably almost purely rock-driven, with the guitar being the most prevalent part of its instrumentation. Additionally, it features the band’s trademark oil barrels in its soundscape, and is thus one of the biggest callbacks to the sound of their earlier material. The song features two distinct, unnamed instrumental interludes which lead into the next song, “Femtakt filosofi”.
