Stoppin' the Love (4:01)

Cover of Eye to the Telescope

From Eye to the Telescope and 4 other releases

The first 10 seconds of Stoppin’ the Lovin are really what kick it - and hook the listener. It has a terrific beat, layered with a ’20s style lead that provide the perfect mood for the lyrics that follow. Maybe there could have been a few more bars before the vocals begin? Either way, Tunstall’s voice is soulful and easy, blending in variations effortlessly to spice the track up. A touch of shu-bop added by the male backing vocals adds an interesting twist! The jazzy feel thats thrown in with some good ole’ strummin’, plus KT’s voice make this song a must-listen, though it hasn’t called much attention to itself in reviews of the album. The only grouse, if any, is that perhaps she could have been a little more adventurous and developed on what is clearly a sound she is familiar with, and can work with superbly. But then again, we’ll forgive the playing safe on the debut. Now if only she’d give us more.
