To my surprise, Kokia doesn't seem so famous. People would do good checking her out! She has an enchanting voice, really mature and powerful. Her songs are a hodgepodge of things... not everything's memorable, but when it's good it's really good. The Voice, Fairy Dance and Pieces have to be my favorites of hers so far.
I Found You is the best album of hers I've heard in a while. There's a sense of maturity that I love about it, along with an unwavering optimism that doesn't come off as insincere or saccharine-sweet. Even some of the more simple ballads and love songs that appear are wrapped in ethereal beauty, not to mention some of the more folk-tinged pieces that can work well with early 70s western folk/folk rock. Simply put, it's made me fall in love with KOKIA all over again, and I've been a fan of hers for 8 years.

It has the deep voice I was missing in her albums... There's variety, and different voice layers all along the album, I think that's its most distinct attribute... Two voices, I found YOU, YOU were found by ME, these two parts of the love equation are constantly present in the songs thanks to those different voice layerse, reminder the llistener that this is a story of more than one (◡‿◡✿)
✿I Found You✿ is her best album since "Balance"! ★★★LOVE LOVE LOVE★★★ the tracks Recover, Solace, Ogyaa to umarete (#5), I found the love & Muryoku to shitta hi(#11)!!!! Thanks to http://www.kokiafans.com/fulldiscography#_=_ for her invaluable help with the romaji titles of KOKIA's songs! (^▽^)
The digest video was removed due to a typo, it was reuploaded and can now be found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KMAZZs0HEhE&feature=youtu.be
KOKIA has also uploaded a preview video for her new album:
Victor Entertainment has previews up for the new album I Found You (release date March 18, 2015): http://www.jvcmusic.co.jp/-/Artist/A012051.html
The orchestra concert DVD is still slated for release around the same date, and will feature a look behind the scenes of editing a concert DVD as a bonus feature.
And more news! KOKIA held a concert accompanied by a full orchestra on December 23, and she has now revealed the concert has been recorded and will be released on DVD around March 18 (same release date as her new album).
KOKIA has revealed the title and release date for her new album: 'I found you', to be released on March 18. Her annual spring concerts, KOKIA 2015 Concert ~oishii oto o tabeta nara~ (‘about eating delicious sounds’ ?) will be held on June 21 and 22, though the venue hasn't been announced yet.
Powerful Artist that inspire me all the time. I think She is one of the great singer-songwriter in the world. I don't mind that she is now focusing on so many ballads and folk style in many recent albums. But you know I love these ballads more and more anytime of every listening especially when you understand the meaning of lyrics that encourage people and bring me to tears. Now my favorite of this day are "Hito no naka ni Aru Mono", "Ai wa Kodama Suru", "Kasa o Kashite Agete", "Hohoemi o Wasurenai You ni", "Daijoubu Daijoubu" and "Eiga no You na Koi Deshita"
Okay. I'm am superbly impressed by the picture that is used as the main cover. It is filled with beauty and loneliness at the same time but I think it fitted Kokia just great. That picture has been used for a long time now and I'm just hoping that it stayed there until the end. Oh, and I see that Kokia's page has become another blunder with the tagging again since it's quite inappropriate and isn't fully a reflection for the genre of songs that she commonly make. There's so many Japanese artist has been slewed away with tags like j-pop e.t.c even though that they sang a lot more classical, doujin or medieval song like Ceui, Annabel, Shimotsuki Haruka and so on. This is very disappointing.
Concerning Harmonie: the movie is scheduled to have a separate blu-ray/DVD release on November 28. First edition will come with a captionless version of the ending and a booklet including the lyrics and part of the musical score, but still no complete version of the song mentioned... Official site: http://www.kadokawa.co.jp/anime/harmonie/
@guixiens: Any time! Sadly, it seems there's still no soundtrack or single announced with the song for Harmonie. I can only find information about the Blu-Ray release back in March, but so far no additional material has come out, and it doesn't look like the full version was featured on the Blu-Ray release either. KOKIA didn't write the song herself this time, so I have no idea about the odds of it appearing on a later KOKIA album. Sorry! Still keeping my eye out for news.
Maybe it's because the multiple names this song may have that it doesn't appear to be one of the top songs, but you really have to listen to "何もかもが星になって" (Nani mo kamo ga Hoshi ni Natte ~Everything becomes a star~) specially The VOICE 10th anniversary version! And... did you know that this song was created way before 2008? ;) KOKIA sang "Nani mo kamo ga Hoshi ni Natte" at the Sanctuary Live in 2003 ~
v-- I third this. She's skimmed along the surface of experimental/art pop for a while now by infusing world and other influences into her music, but I feel like she should be a little more risky in her future endeavors. I love KOKIA's music and think she's a fantastic vocalist/songwriter, but I feel like she's capable of bringing out some left-field material.
