I kind of forgot how much I like poppy industrial metal.

I hope they come up with something really special for their 20th album. They pretty much stamp their albums with the same elements for pretty much whole career. Would be good at least to have some CAREFULLY made album even if it takes few more years rather than just same things over and over again. I love all the stuff they do, but come on...

KMFDM might not have that many strong albums but they had a pretty awesome streak from Angst to Symbols. Nihil is near flawless in my opinion.

Symbols (1997) is such a great album. Their new stuff I can't really get into, still a fan though.

these guys gotta slow the fuck down with their output. i'm pretty sure they haven't gone a single year since 1985 without putting out an album, ep or single of some kind (including MDFMK). in the 90s they were great but constantly putting out stuff the way they do has clearly worn them down, their new albums sound so tired and uninspired. i think it's time for Sasha to just end KMFDM and work on something new, because OK-ZTEIN-OK was really good and that came out just a few years ago so clearly Sasha can still put good music together - just not with KMFDM.

Their 90's stuff was good. Especially Nihil album.

If someone missed it, KMFDM released a great 30th anniversary live concert video + interview documentary recently! You haven't seen videos this good quality from them before. Get it from http://wearekmfdm.com/ and play it loud :)

Well, I find those albums integrally great, so I guess it's a pretty subjective matter.

    Symbols, Adios and Nihil!

Symbols, Adios and Opium are my favorites by quite a wide margin. Most of their other stuff is both mediocre and same-y. The Ogre appearances on some their more recent albums have been pretty good though. Unlike seemingly the majority, I thought they were pretty uninteresting live, pretty much all the stuff I find interesting in their music got drowned out in the mix.

Haha, there are few artist where all their songs are energetic, egdy and also catchy.

  • ghostofravens

Their genre fluidity wasn't what made them good. They're kind of like Wumpscut to me in a way, having a reasonable amount of good single songs, and an entire discography of mediocrity.

  • skinnydrifter

Drug Against War and Light are brilliant, they're from that sort of era too

  • skinnydrifter

KMFDM 'used to be' a lot of things, industrial funk to industrial dance to industrial metal, and although I see it all as high quality, my favorite KMFDM style is Xtort - present, so much energy and aggression!

They used to be good, but not that good.

I think Naive is their absolute best, it has something for both fans of the 80s more experimental KMFDM and something for fans of the rock sound that developed throughout the 90$s. Their best release in general though is the 1991 "Split" single.

I love all their stuff, but their 80s stuff will always be the best in my opinion. It's almost perfect.

Don't rate the new album at all unfortunately. Kunst was better, but Xtort, Nihil, Symbols and WTF were still the best for me. Hau Ruck and Ruck Zuck were good too.

  • Xenagos

Really loved the new album. While it was somewhat underwhelming by KMFDM's standards, they still make a strong return and kick more ass than before. OTWC is probably their best album post-reform, next to Hau Ruck and WWIII.

    October 2014
  • GackTMN

Kunst has more staying power to me than OTWC; the poppy direction is what made the band go off-track in the 2000's

    October 2014
  • Rasvakeitin

Oh, gee. I don't know. The 90's albums were really repetitive, the only albums that really stood out were XTORT and Symbols. Our Time Will come is alright, better than the last few anyway, even if it's not very unique either. I still prefer the 80's stuff.
