Biography

A collision of the old and the new with a neo-beatnik stance by musician/deejays Rob Mac and Matt Smooth.

When the dust was cleared from the vintage 60’s Italian Jem Jumbo organ it was clear the flickering valves still had some funk left to give. This is its epitaph. Riding the swinging syncopation of spliced postcards of vinyl mementoes and the primal spirit of invention come together with obese intention.

Jumbonics delivers an edgy jazzy soundtrack to all discarded, outdated and unwanted electronic devices around the world.

JUMBONICS - Rob Mac Production, Bass , Guitar, Keys. Matt Smooth Drums, Percussion. Norman Anderson vocals. Lucy Wilkins Violin, Keys, Bv’s. Keeling Lee Guitar. Ali Live Keyboard Player. Nick Pamphilon keys.

The sound behind Jumbonics is a soul fired up from Booker T & The MG’s, Jimmy Smith, Johnny Hammond, Ramsey Lewis, Buddy Rich, Gene Krupa, Louie Bellson, James Brown, 45 King, Brian Auger, Money Mark, Trouble Funk, The Meters, Madlib, Sweet Charles, Led Zeppelin, Cozy Powell, Blood Sweat & Tears…all heavy rockin’.

The original sound of Jumbonics was mostly instrumental crunchy jazz break & bass heavy tunes with a real snap, crackle & pop in the mix. Often laced with a jolly melody skipping over the top to enhance a vibrant mood.
