Biography
Juliette & The Licks is a rock band led by American actress Juliette Lewis. Other band members include guitarist Todd Morse (of H2O) and bassist Jason Womack, and drummer Ed Davis. Singles include ‘You’re Speaking My Language’, ‘Got Love To Kill’, ‘Hot Kiss’, ‘Sticky Honey’ and ‘Purgatory Blues’.
They are well known for their explosive live performances. The band is still performing as of August 2007 and is occasionally erroneously billed as Juliet and the Licks.
Morse left the band before sessions for the second album had begun. Juliette and the Licks then recruited Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl to fill the gap. Grohl then went on to ask the Licks to be a guest act at the Foo Fighters sell out Hyde Park performance on the 17 June, 2006 to around 85,000 people (other acts were Angels and Airwaves, Queens of the Stone Age and Motörhead). At the same event, Lewis and Moa Holmsten from Meldrum came on stage for one of Motörhead’s songs to do backing vocals.
Their recent album is called Four On The Floor and released October 2nd 2006. Finally with Dave Grohl to play drums on the entire album. Since the release of Four On The Floor, Ed Davies has become the permanent occupant of the drumstool for Juliette & The Licks.
As of July 2007 Juliette & The Licks are without a lead guitarist, Kemble Walters, who was only a temporary member, has left to continue his own band. Despite his temporary status, he had played on both of their full albums.
Another temporary guitarist has been drafted in whilst they look for a permanent replacement for Kemble.
The Licks show at Indigo2 in London’s Millenium Dome, was filmed and a DVD is expected in the near future.
