• Soundtrack to these days - part XII: Joy Division special

Few bands mean as much to me as Joy Division does and few lyricists speak to my inner being as Ian Curtis does.
I discovered them when I was a lanky, insecure 17 year old, four-eyed freak of a boy, trying to find myself in this myriad of an existence.
Now, not much has changed. I'm still haunted by demons and Ian Curtis is still singing my life.
The following songs are this nights favourites.

    Sound of Music
    - See my true reflection
    Cut off my own connections
I can see life getting harder
    So sad is this sensation
    Reverse the situation
I can't see it getting better

    - I watched all hell break loose, confined and unprepared
is this what life's about, is this the dream we share?

can you help me, can you spare some time?
no apologies for all these thoughts of mine

    - Mother, I tried, please, believe me
I'm doing the best that I can
I'm ashamed of the things I've been put through
I'm ashamed of the person I am

    Twenty Four Hours
    - A cloud hangs over me, marks every move

I had an impulse to clear it all away
I used the tactics - make everybody pay
Just something that I knew I had to do
But through it all I kept my eyes on you...

Ian Curtis (Joy Division) - The Kill

Easily one of the very best lyricists that will ever exist. Speaks directly to my heart and my soul, like few others.
