"I prefer the version on Still, the high pitched guitar feedback at the beginning is so much more haunting in that version." This. Favoritest JD song evar? Possibly.

to take story short: band had idea of what jd should sound, and martin had a workshop and abilities to do it:)

@Dylanisgod2 i think martin hannet has very hard influence on their sound, watch joy division documentary movie, where there is such claim...in this song i think his influence was strong, of course band also has influence on this, this was THEIR album and THEIR band, THEIR song with some idea what it should sound, but influence of martin cannot be overestimated. thank to him, besides others, joy division has such cold and inhumanized sound...this cooperation only enrich jd's as a band:)

i find it interesting that the band had no image in mind when playing, they had this raw reverby sound by nature, maybe with a little help from martin hannett

I prefer the version on Still, the high pitched guitar feedback at the beginning is so much more haunting in that version.
