Singer songwriter Josie Field was born in Johannesburg, South Africa. Her music genre can be described as folk, with a crossover to digital.
Starting her career playing open mic nights and folk clubs, she now has three albums under her belt, the latest of which has been described as her best work ever! Field’s many hits have been played in excess on all major South African radio stations, she has supported huge international acts like James Blunt, Ziggy Marley, Westlife and more recently, Michelle Shocked – and been nominated for three South African Music Awards and two MK Awards. She sang for Mandela at his 90th Birthday party at JHB stadium and performed at Fan Parks at the Semi and Finals of the Soccer World Cup last year. Last year Field was an ambassador for the Levi Strauss Curve ID campaign, which has changed the way woman shop for jeans forever. Field is a powerful package.
Field had this to say about the release of her latest album ‘1984’ (named for the year of her birth, not the George Orwell book which she has yet to read) “Like any career, growth is an essential ingredient.”
