About this album

The CD-S «Lluvia de Mayo» (in English: «Rain Of May») collects two of
the earliest compositions of José Travieso, having both of them
a common thing: each one was written in two times during two
different periods.

The first one, which gives title to the CD-S and it was subtitled as
«Romantic Poem, No. 2» (the No. 1 was written previously but never
released), shows some of José Travieso’s earliest and elaborated ideas
for piano chasing a romantic aesthetic. Part of this piece was
written in May of 1995 (until the minute 2:18), being its origin

mainly improvisational, but it never was finished then and it was
abandoned because looking for other new projects… during years!
In May of 2000, José Travieso -in one of his most produtive moments-
decided not to wait more and to finish the track. So, after this
2:18 minute he decided to write a musical development, using elements
of «sporadic music» (influenced of course by the pieces recorded
a few months ago: the «Essays on Sporadic Music»; and all their
innovative ideas). After this interesting musical development, the
next calm and relaxing part was just an spontaneous improvisation
for it, finishing with a simple coda written previous and specifily
to finish this track…

The name of the piece, «Rain of May», isn’t a caprice. In 2001
José Travieso wrote: “My «Romantic Poem No. 2» begins as the
andalusian rain in May, growing since the nothing and getting
fastly strong, through a joyful, unprejuicided and neo-romantic
