Biography

For some, growing up with rock and roll was not just an experience, but the thrill of anticipation. Reading Creem, Rolling Stone, New Musical Express, Trouser Press and countless other magazines was a path to individuality. Waiting for the next releases from The Ramones, The Clash, The Buzzcocks and later The Replacements, Oasis and even Green Day was a way to set us apart. To be on the edge, to truly appreciate the life and soul of music, we didn’t just listen to it; we waited for it to change our world.

When the dreams faded, along with the power and influence of the records we loved, our music became mere soundtracks for selling the latest gadgets and gizmos of the twenty-first century. But the tide is changing. It is now within the power of the artist to set himself apart, to re-capture the spirit of rock without the constraints of answering to those who only care about the bottom line.

This is the spirit that energizes Jonny Dongel.

He has created an album of melodic, meaningful anthems that will re-introduce fans of the first and second waves of punk, pop and new wave to the music that they loved. The songs are presented with crisp, modern production that crosses generations and genres to enthrall everyone who listens.

Included here are eleven original compositions, written, recorded and mixed by the artist. Melodies, vocal harmonies, huge rock riffs and ageless spirit are the foundations for the songs. This is the record you have been waiting for: the pure spirit of rock, with a joyful side of rebellion.

“Jonny Dongel (has) attitude fueled punky anthems full of spiky guitars, infectious vocals and the kind of drums that make you want to jump around like a loon.”
- Will Munn, Rhythm & Booze Fanzine
