@redpepperkid - he's not comparing them, he's talking about the average intelligence of listeners of a particular genre. The average intelligence of the pop music listener will most likely be lower than that of other genres, but that's because pop is more, well, popular and therefore has more listeners throughout the world. However, in my opinion, JB listeners are plenty intelligent being that they realize that they can listen to whatever they want without feeling the need to subject themselves to the opinion of listeners of other genres.

Living-Deadbeat: I have no reason to believe that the fanbase of Jonas Brothers has a lower avarage intelligence level than the fanbase of, for example, Tool. Just because you think it's "oh so obvious", doesn't make it so.

I agree with you so much. I don't know what it is that draws people's hate towards JB. There are plenty of bands I don't give a fuck about, but you'd never know because I don't care enough to bother with them.

I really can't understand how ppl can still argue about others' music taste. In the majority of the cases it's just about that, taste. All musicians have their pros and their cons, and every person has their own reasons to like or dislike this or that band/singer/whatever. I would hope that everyone eventually understand that it doesn't matter how much you hate or like this or that thing, as it does matter how tolerant you are. Tolerance opens many doors, and intolerance shuts many others. Think WW2.

Well at least we have a hater who says more than just "LIKEZOMG THEY'RE GAY" but actually comes up with some arguments and where you can have a normal discussion with. Seriously I'm happy with that. I don't agree with you though, but that doesn't matter because luckily not everyone in this world has the same opinion. I do agree with mushy_cavendish though. I have the feeling that people already hate the Jonas Brothers because they're from Disney. So they don't give them a chance. Just the fact that it's Disney makes them bad musicians. They don't know that the Jonas Brothers do write all of their songs and play their own instruments and that they never lip sync etc. So the only thing that haters can come up with is: "They look gay and they're from Disney.. blablabla.. Purity rings'. I haven't seen a lot of originality here. So I want to say at least thanks to Living-Deadbeat. Cause although I completely disagree with you, you came up with something different.I was waiting for that.

Debate is fine, a sharing of opinions is fine, but, you're right, oftentimes it's just ranting. Everyone is criticized for what they listen to at some point. It just happens more often with the Jonas Brothers because they make pop music and are supported by Disney. It's like they're representative of a certain kind of music in the same way Britney Spears is, so people tend to focus on them and pile their dislike for an entire genre on one artist.

Heh, I know what you mean. It's the same with a number of bands, and it really is tedious if they don't try to back up their argument whatsoever. I guess I like a debate too much!

I understand that but this has more to do with the never-ending attack on this shoutbox than it does with your comments today. All we ever hear is "Jonas Brothers are gay", "who listens to this crap", blah blah blah, so you have to forgive if it's perhaps a little tense here. If you look through a majority of these comments, you will see attacks for the most part. It's uncanny the amount of people that go out of their way to come here.

Quote Living-Deadbeat: "You are free to your taste, I was just very bored this morning and on a wind up. " The debate developed into something interesting thereafter and I hope it continues on our respective pages. It was better than reading the same old, same old on every shoutbox. Shout 1: "YAY, I LOVE THIS BAND." Shout 2: ""YAY, I LOVE THIS BAND"[2]"...I don't know what's so hard to understand about the word(s) wind-up. The wind-up then evolved into a discussion about how music affects the mind, if it indeed does. I would never suggest everyone should listen to the same music, I just have a leaning against anything Disney have invested in.

It's true, Nick is the most musical of the three and Joe is the most charismatic. I'm not sure what Kevin is lol.

And the shoutbox foolishness continues...it's the same stupidity from these people that will always warrant the same response: listen to whatever you like. Musical taste is relative. What you consider to the best, someone else may have no interest in. We were not all born in the same place, not all raised the same way, did not all grow up with the same influences so, no, we're not all going to be listening to alternative, indie, or rock music. Learn to respect individual tastes and an individual's right to have those tastes and move along.

I never said you are stupid if you listen to a certain thing, I'm speaking on averages. No statistical tests have been carried out, but you'd be naive to think tastes in things that make people think (music being an example), don't say anything about people's intelligence. The smartest guy in the world could be a Britney Spears fan, and stupid pricks listen to Tool; however if you speak to people, in general, who likes these bands, you can see obvious differences in their personalities and in a lot of cases their minds. We can continue this discussion on each other's profiles, I don't want to clog up this box anymore!

@Living-Deadbeat: The point was that you can't categorize people based on their music taste. Like you automatically are stupid if you listen to pop music. Also, I would like some proofs for what your claiming. Otherwise your words mean nothing. :)
