Jonathan Troupin aka Jona was born in 1983 in Liège, Belgium. Eclectism is a master-word for him. Having honing his technical skills as an engineer, and following early forays into electronic house production for Strobe Music and Toys For Boys, 24-year-old Belgian Jonathan Troupin’s true arrival on the house and techno block his debut 12” for Get Physical, The Learnings. Since then, he’s chalked up another acclaimed E.P. for Physical, Tizia, not to mention assorted releases for labels like Fumakilla and Resopal Red, and high profile remixes for Michal Ho, Soffy O, Daso and labelmates Booka Shade and M.A.N.D.Y.
Get Physical’s efforts to cultivate new talent has been ongoing and their A&Ring has been far-reaching, encouraging producers from around the world to send them fresh music, The first fruits of this hard work is evident on this debut release by Belgian producer Jonathan, who, although still in his 20s, will be a name to watch in 2006 if ‘Learning From Mistakes’ is anything to go on.
Originally a guitar player of some repute, who was influenced by legends like Joe Satriani and who was schooled by the great Gérard Jouffroy, Jona’s blues background as well as his love of techno - he has studied sound engineering and has also released on Serie Records and Color - shapes his Get Physical debut.
