… By fusing the music of artists such as The Gossip, Bauhaus, Leonard Cohen, Maroon 5, Modest Mouse, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Killers, Stevie Nicks, Siouxsie, The Grateful Dead and the like, Romanian band, Jokerman lays the foundation of an indie-funky-pop sound. A mixture of folk, pop, funk and post-punk, these boys are bound to capture the attention of fans of the unconventional with their, musically perverse, yet still pop-ish, sounds.
In a country where both open stage nights and festivals are dominated by hurling and pounding rock bands, Jokerman’s liquor-driven, soothing, acoustic live shows have turned out to be an instant success with the crowds right from the very begining. Repetetively being labeled as “the band with most potential” by the local media, the trio got some big time shows as soon as it hit the circuit, headlining every show thus far. Even low-budget demos, handed out in concert and offered for free download via the internet, got around and created the buzz necessarry to catch the eye - and ear - of industry reps. Thanks to this phenomenon, “City Of Light” went into rotation in all of the local radio stations as well as several stations around the country. Although the group is still unsigned, the boys are heavily touring venues around Romania, and have recently recorded a single for the song “Radio Air” as well as two other songs, “Hum Didley Dumb” and “Come away with me”. These are the first recordings with the new line-up and the re-touched sound.
