Comprised of former members of Your City/State, Rockford, Illinois’ Joie De Vivre (French for “joy of life”) was nostalgic to say the least, having found themselves at the forefront of the 90’s midwest emo revival. Although their sound may evoke feelings from the aforementioned era now over a decade foregone, they are a breath of fresh air for the contemporary music scene.

So basically, some dudes playing twinkly emo jams about being sad, girls, beer, and summer.

On April 6th, 2011, Joie De Vivre announced that they will be breaking up for an indefinite period of time due to personal reasons.

On December 17th 2011 they reunited at their residence (Hipster House) in Rockford, IL with The Reptilian, Empire! Empire! and Annabel. They also announced a 2012 Europe Tour. They suck at breaking up.
