7 Jul 2006, 02:44 by TweedyzgirlMy dad and I arrived at Summerfest in Milwaukee, Wisconsin at about 3. When we got to the Miller Lite Oasis, a cover band called Déjà Vu was playing. They did a fair array of covers from “Sweet Home Alabama” to “Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy”. They were not horrendous, and the 7 or so members of the band were quite talented, but it seemed like they were never going to leave the stage.
After them were the Sweettarts. Oh, dear god. I try my hardest not to be elitist and respecting of every kind of music…but if you’re going to get a cover band together…play classic rock or something like that. Don’t play The Black Eyed Peas, Britney Spears, and Marilyn Manson (that’s some combination, huh?). It was horrendous and lasted waaaaaay too long. It was really quite embarrassing, actually. There was one female singer wearing a very skimpy top, who did a lot of shaking and gyrating on the stage, and occasionally sang in a very shrill voice perfect for most of the pop songs. I felt sorry for her.
