John Reed Club were a Newtown-based Sydney band from the mid to late 1990’s consisting of Pete Lusty (currently co-manager of Ivy League Records), James Roden (current lead singer of Sydney band The City Lights), Cameron Emerson-Elliott (currently a guitarist in Youth Group), and Richard Weinman.

They had two releases. First was a 7” single a-side Destroyer / b-sides Go Home / Rocket Peddles the first release for label Ivy League Records. They then got signed to EMI and put out a 1998 EP called Death Metal, including the tracks All My Friends, Head In Stereo, Stamp Duty, Counter Clockwise, and You Could Do Better. They broke up soon after.

Their song ‘Stamp Duty’ appears on the Recovery: Ready for Transmission compilation of 1999, and the Triple J Lust For Live compilation of 1998.
A cover song ‘Seen Your Video’ appears on I’m in Love…With That Song, a tribute album for American band The Replacements.
