my favorite song by lennon! exactly what we have to do. I believe in this song. We need peace. We must listen to this message. We hear all sorts of propaganda for tearing each other apart. but why not have a peaceful coexistence? If you don't believe in this perhaps you should get out of the way for us who does. I love the upbeat sort of rally mood. The instrumentation is simple and this song is absolutely singable. Go lennon!
I think of that children's charity on TV with the infomercials whenever I hear this song now... Not really sure it's the message that [artist]John Lennon[/artist] would have wanted most to be recalling whenever they hear this song... BUT, I could be wrong.
I thought this song was cool...and then I saw his son perform it, and realized it wasn't. Catchy as hell. But the sort of song that cults use to brainwash their members (in this case hippies). Peace isn't what is needed. Passion is. Lennon had that. You don't. I think, if John were alive today, he would be singing about killing hippies.
Isn't this the same technique religious cults use to convert? Chanting the same thing over and over until its brainwashed in your head. So instead of thinking you just recite a cliche? give peace a chance...
Visitors to John and Yoko's bed-in, including reporters, staff, and celebrities, banged on everything from doors to tabletops for rhythm. John thought the first take sounded weak, so the next take added a group of Hare Krishna drummers. The drumming was remixed in the studio, because John came in too soon on the third verse.
