I think of that children's charity on TV with the infomercials whenever I hear this song now... Not really sure it's the message that John Lennon would have wanted most to be recalling whenever they hear this song... BUT, I could be wrong.

I wonder how those morons speaking badly about the U.S.of A. would feel if we stopped our foreign aid to their country...I think we should give peace a chance by supporting those who support us...

@danc6433: You're correct, Lennon had passion. But no, he definitely would not be singing about killing hippies...your fantasy perhaps, but not John's...no way.

I thought this song was cool...and then I saw his son perform it, and realized it wasn't. Catchy as hell. But the sort of song that cults use to brainwash their members (in this case hippies). Peace isn't what is needed. Passion is. Lennon had that. You don't. I think, if John were alive today, he would be singing about killing hippies.

Before I'd ever heard this song, I heard my friend karaoke it and was so sure she'd slaughtered it. Shortly after I realized that no, that's just the exuberance with which this song is properly sung.

All you haters are the reason people like Lennon NEED to promote and strive for peace and love. Without it, we'd all end up like you. Sad
