John Kline
15,363 plays (330 listeners)
Kline’s choice and arrangement of several tunes invites metaphor as the CD opens with an alarm clock leading into the upbeat, retro Wakey Wakey, and ends (as nightly TV programming used to) with a heavy metal version of our National Anthem — the only cover tune.
In between, Kline’s compelling blend of Rock, Jazz, Blues, Ambient, and Celtic influences can best be described as New Age with Edge … an artful blend of melodies, textures, and moods, peppered with blazing guitar work. The compilation skillfully intertwines energetic, bold musical statements and passionate, evocative ballads.
Kline has been nominated for numerous awards on the internet site Garageband, and was named Most Versatile and Prowar Champion on Guitarwar. Recently, Instrumental Conditioning was the #1 top-rated instrumental rock album on Rhapsody. Reviewers have compared his fluency and style to iconic guitarists Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, and Eric Johnson.
In an admittedly fuzzy past life, Kline was a professional lead guitar player. In addition to his formidable musical dexterity and inspired creative breadth, Kline handled virtually all of the composition, instruments, programming, engineering, production and prototype mastering in his modest, cottage industry home recording studio.
