Guts (3:27)

Cover of Fragments of a Rainy Season

From Fragments of a Rainy Season and 12 other releases

“Guts” opens with the line, “The bugger in the short sleeves fucked my wife”. This refers to Kevin Ayers sleeping with Cale’s wife before the June 1, 1974 concert, as John Cale related in his autobiography, with Victor Bockris, What’s Welsh for Zen (1998).

The bugger in the short sleeves fucked my wife
Did it quick and split
Back home, fresh as a daisy to Maisy, oh Maisy

@Iamianaimal: If you think this was about Reed: It's not. It's about his longtime friend Kevin Ayers, who...yes, fucked Cale's wife. That's why they look at each other so weirdly on the cover of June 1, 1974. Though it's quite cool Cale forgave Ayers, that's friendship man. This song shows though that he was angry about it...maybe just a bit. :P Awesome shit.
