An example of one of those pieces by Bach that we feel is somehow timeless.

This piece is the focal point of a short but compelling essay by JeromeWeidman entitled, “The Night I Met Einstein”, which can be found at this URL:

Terribly muddy vocal recording, what a shame, spoils a beautifully moving piece

I believe that you have to go back several decades and the get more traditional versions performed by the finest musicians to get the real thing if one is serious about fully appreciating these masters to their fullest potential in order to get the full musical and artistic experience. Nothing wrong with today's musicians and performances if you're looking for a commercialized and pops' oriented experience.

Gah. Another beautiful classical piece lazily represented on by a substandard performance. To all who may be new to this piece, find another version for your first listen!

This is a great work. I hate when people misuse it in film (often).
