Pachelbel's Cannon. It was almost Christmas a few years ago, five students playing this in the Abbey forecourt in Bath, England. I was the first to stop and listen, but within six bars a crowd had gathered. Their rendition was bloody perfect. When they'd finished there was spontaneous applause and I threw in a couple of quid and walked on hearing the tinkle of more money going into the hat. That was the first time they'd played this piece that evening. They were clearly impressed with how we listeners were impressed - two hours later, I'd come out of the pub and met them again, in a different location but playing the same tune to another crowd.

Diese Version ist ja furchtbar. Ist das ein Handyklingelton? (2)

A comedian named Rob Paravonian has a bit about Pachelbel's Canon in D that is quite funny. You can find it on youtube if interested.

I enjoy this. As a layman, soothing sounds are where you catch them - and I have caught on to this.

My violin-teacher Mr. Kaufmann called it:"The most beautiful piece of shit ever composed." R.I.P. Mr. Kaufmann

Love this song. But there are much better versions than this.

If anyone from Pachelbel's estate is alive, I hope they are collecting royalties from this overplayed song. So tired of it...

I love this piece, but this version isn't all that great. Bit too trilly on the strings and the tempo's a little slower than most versions. Seems a little stiff as well; obviously as a baroque canon it's meant to be quite rhythmical, but I like a slightly freer rendition. This feels a little emotionless. Also, using so much vibrato on the violins makes it a little less authentic for baroque.

Sounds like a midi to me... Nothing is like real instruments played by real people.
