Magna Carta have really thrown money at this (relatively) young guitarist. His debut album features Mike Mangini (Annihilator, ex-Extreme, ex-Steve Vai) on drums throughout, with production from Chris Tsangarides and solos from no less than three guest guitarists George Lynch, Greg Howe and Joe Stump. Perhaps most important of all they've forked out for cover art by Derek Riggs (because the music won't be anywhere near as good without it, right?). At the very least, the all-instrumental album has some memorable melodies, and is a good retreading of, well, 1986-1989 shred standards.
The album's pretty good and worth a listen if you get the chance. Tsangarides' production, rather uncharacteristically, sounds flat, tired and dated on the record though. It sounds like one of the 1986 Shrapnel albums, which just isn't good enough in the flooded market of instrumental guitarists these days. …

#1 of all time
Michael Angelo Batio
Michael invented the Dean Double-Guitar and was the first person in the world to successfully play it. AWESOME!! Michael started playing piano and composing at age 5 and started playing guitar at age 10. Michael has performed over 1100 shows in 31 different countries since 1993. He has tours the world performing guitar workshops, touring with various bands and as a solo artist.
Chris Impellitteri is one of the most unique, intense, and dynamic guitarists in heavy rock today. His influences range from Al Dimeola to Uli John Roth to Edward Van Halen. Chris has been releasing some of the best progressive, neo-classical guitar work around since the mid-'80's, inspiring countless musicians.
Yngwie J. Malmsteen
When he was young, Yngwie didn't want much to do with music. Music was soft, a thing for wimps, and Yngwie was into all things destructive. …
60. Stolen Babies - There Be Squabbles Ahead
59. Fireflight - Unbreakable
24 Apr 2008, 09:33 by DasrRustin Hiatt has entered an online competition at Guitar Idol, UK. I would urge you to vote for Rustin Hiatt's entry at Guitar Idol, UK. Please follow the link to his voting page (http://www.guitar-idol.co.uk/rustin-hiatt). You will have to register to vote.
But why should we vote for him you ask? Especially after you've chummed us in with tags. I am sorry for that, but how many times have you followed a tag for a less worthy cause.
If you know me, you know I know what I am talking about when I say someone is an amazing artist. Rustin Hiatt is such a musician. Listen to him, you'll see what I mean. If the music doesn't persuade you, then I offer this.
Want to stick it to some contest-whore guitarists who believe the faster they play the better the musician they are. Till every note runs together and becomes so cliche that it isn't about good music, or even good musicianship. It's all about being redundant and even more repetitive. Because heaven forbid we should hear something fresh and new.
10 Apr 2008, 02:07 by C26000These are my favorite recent albums. I listened to them the first time sometime between December 20th 2007 and now. I added my rating and genre to each of them, and a small comment when I feel it’s necessary. If you have any recommendation based in my favorite recent music PLEASE comment!, I love hearing new music and expanding my musical taste.
Unjust - To Lose A Name
alternative rock - alternative hard rock - progressive alternative rock - brit alternative rock
Wow this album is amazing!! A wonderful mix of hard rock, alternative rock, emotional vocals and even some progressive elements. Unjust has a Nu Metal background, but with this album they have taken their base sound and expanded it to more atmospheric and progressive levels. They even have some songs that remind me of Muse specially some of their vocals and melodies. Highly recommended if you like Modern Hard Rock or Alternative Metal/Nu Metal like Linkin Park, Evanescense,Incubus ,30 Seconds to Mars, Flyleaf, etc.
29 Jan 2008, 19:47 by MikeSamteladzeI wanna make a little review above music style, callin Neo Classic Rock. It's a genre having not a huge areal of listeners, but there are the ones, who really can appreciate this art. It's not a loud to call it art cause it was really made hard work in the foundaments, music has grew to mixing rock and classic together. It sounds vary simple "mix" but really to do it, virtuoso must really have a good classical aducation and metal skills.
Aslo not everybody can really do this, for example if we take a musician named Tony MacAlpine, I really can't call him neo classic guitar player, I can't say anything negative about his technic and music theory knowledges but he is much more jazz-rock style player than neo classical.
The same I can say about a man named Marty Friedman, but I can't call him jazz style guitar player. He's reallly greaty intrumentalist. Espacially I like his song "Hands of Time".
Ok let's get back to the earth and stop offTopicing.
The style Neo Classic was born in 80-ies (1985 I guess).
