  • He put a tour playlist up on Spotify a little while back, mostly consisting of old-school country and '60s folk, things like that. I think the new album makes sense in the context of those influences. I wasn't floored by it either, but I'm still enjoying it in different ways. I'm sure the edgier elements of his style won't go away. The playlist: https://open.spotify.com/user/thejoepug/playlist/0Rci7eJgYtsR7HSaB0BAv0
  • V I completely agree with you.
  • I've loved Joe since 'Nation of Heat', and have gotten so many plays out of the EPs and the first two albums. I actually shed a tear the first time I heard Hymn #101. So it pains me to say that this new one, 'Windfall', is a disappointment. There are just too many unmemorable ballads for me, and the production is too 'smooth' - I miss the rougher, rawer sound of the earlier records. Of course, he has to move on, and I can't blame him for wanting to change his sound. I wonder what other people think?

  • New album is underwhelming.
