After hammering out some (decidedly dodgy) covers and a couple of their own songs, they all relocated, for one reason or another, down the country to Leeds/Bradford. It soon became apparent that Lee, essentially an egomaniac, wanted to play guitar and sing, so the search for a replacement drummer began. After much discussion and some drunken near misses, the band was finally introduced to Rob mid 1997 being told, vaguely, that he played drums.
Finally getting their shit together the real Joe 90 was born, although the band actually remained nameless for a great deal longer than is healthy - the name Joe 90 being decided on the flip of a coin. After practicing for almost a year they played their first gig in early 98 and have gigged steadily ever since to, for the most part, patient and tolerant audiences.
Their debut single was released on BOMBED OUT RECORDS in October 98. They then changed their name from Joe 90 to Joe Ninety early 2000 (to avoid confusion with a US band and a dance DJ!) and under that name released the album, Lifetime of Empty Threats, early 2001.
