About this album

Doom is the first EP by Job for a Cowboy, released on November 11, 2005 through the King Of The Monsters label. It achieved most attention after being re-released on major record label, Metal Blade Records in 2006. A music video was created for the song “Entombment of a Machine” in which an elderly man is shown burying machines into the ground along with clips in between of the band performing in a desert-like atmosphere.

Allmusic reviewer Cosmo Lee stated: “Doom is competent, but trades in sounds, not songs.” in which Lee was referring to the fact, that Job for a Cowboy has changed their musical style with their follow-up release Genesis, which is a purist death metal-sound oriented album, Lee then ended the review stating: “Almost overnight, hordes of MySpace copycats sprang up, even lifting the band’s logo font. This is where it all started - or ended, depending on your perspective.”

The track “Knee Deep” was central to a popular YouTube video in which the track was synchronized to a clip of the SpongeBob SquarePants episode “Band Geeks”. The clip features various members of the SpongeBob SquarePants cast playing instruments along with “Knee Deep” overlayed to it (originally in the episode appearing as performing the song “Sweet Victory” by David Glen Eisley).

imo, there are better Deathcore albums. But this is one of the best Deathcore releases of all time. And this is arguably the most influential Deathcore LP.

can not be compared with any deathcore album ... [2] but their death metal approach is much better. Also you can't say that they are boring now if you only primarily listen to core music -_-. [2]

Totally unashamed to stand by and say this is by far their best musical endeavor. Why settle for their new brand of straight up death metal when there is already masterpiece death metal albums from Suffocation and Obituary out there? This EP was a breath of fresh air and really fun to listen to. Now they're boring. [2] EXACTLY!!!!!

Relinquished and Entities are my favourites from this EP. Entities sounds quite different to the other tracks.

4 out of 10 for Knee Deep, Rising Tide and the overrated Entombment. Genesis would get 7 out of 10 for hits like Altered from Catechization, Embedded, Bearing The Serpents Lamb, Reduced to Mere Filth. Embedded is their best track. Just perfect. The solo is so amazing.
