Joan Sims was born Irene Joan Marion Sims on 9 May 1930 in Laindon, Essex, England.

Best known as a star of the highly successful and long running Carry On film series, Sims released 2 singles in 1963.

Hurry Up Gran / Oh Not Again Ken (Polydor)

Spring Song / Men (Polydor)

Both of these recordings were in the comedy genre and produced by George Martin who would become best known for his work with The Beatles.

Neither single made an impact on the charts and Sims issued no further recordings until she released one further single, Sweet Lovely Whatsisname/ The Lass With The Delicate Hair, again it made no impact on the chart and was her final single release.

Sims also features on the soundtracks of two revues, The Lord Chamberlain Regrets (1961) and The Water Gypsies in which her only solo track is I’m Not A Jealous Woman.

Sims died on 27 June 2001 aged 71.
