How does the world see me?
    Where Is Your Heart
A cold hearted bitch who they don't believe? Possibly...

    Take It To Manhattan
They've had enough of me it seems.

    The Day That I Die
...... "All alone but I feel fine" This doesn't really fit haha but we'll go with no.

How can I make myself happy?

"Somewhere out in the back of your mind
Comes your real life and the life that you know"

I don't know, but the back of my mind will tell me.

Yep ... I'm beginning to suspect that no matter how many songs I have in my library, FRT will spit out (1) at least one track from the Boys on the Side soundtrack and (2) at least one track from the Avenue Q soundtrack. I used to not understand why anyone would have music in their digital library that they didn't absolutely, positively love. I guess I understand a bit more now. Even though I cringe a bit when these pop up in the rotation, I can't bring myself to delete them.

    So, without further ado...

    1. Flautino Concerto in C, R. 443: III. Allegro Molto, Vivaldi (performed by Academy of St. Martin in the Fields)

    2. Schadenfreude, Avenue Q soundtrack

    3. Cantiga, Mediaeval Baebes

(YouTube has a video of them performing this live, I think at the Maryland Renaissance Fair. I would chew off my left arm if they came to Kansas City.)

    4. Thank U, Alanis Morissette

    5. Swete Sone, Mediaeval Baebes

    6. Star of the Sea, Mediaeval Baebes

    7. Pancake, Tori Amos

    8. Willow, Joan Armatrading

I originally posted this on my blog at, but it occurred to me later that I should have done it here:

My musical taste, schizoid though it may be, has always been very much shaped by the people I care about. When I think about who my favorite artists have been throughout the years, I almost always associate them with the person who introduced me to them.

Take, for example, the Beatles, Cat Stevens and the Rolling Stones. When I was a small child those were just names in the stack of 33’s my mother had stashed in the linen closet at the top of the stairs. Then, one day, I got brave enough to pull out a few of those albums, and got hooked. I’d imagine my parents listening to Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, Tea For The Tillerman, or Sticky Fingers, and it made me feel very grown-up to actually be enjoying some of the same things they did. I still love them, and can’t help but think of my mother tapping her rings on the steering wheel of her gigantic sky-blue station wagon…
