In answer to my query below - this was written by her husband, Paul Weston (with Paul Mason Howard). She and Weston went on to create the spoof Jonathan and Darlene Edwards team, in which guise, they cleverly mangled standards such as Stardust and It's Magic. If you have a musical sense of humour, the "Edwards" tracks are worth tracking down. Gentle but clever humour.

Curious song for the Jo Stafford treatment. Was this originally a folk song/shanty?
