30 Nov 2006, 06:01 by blues_houndWhoever planned the holiday schedule really screwed it up. I haven't even digested all that turkey and now I have to think about Christmas hams. What's a dawg going to do?
At least, I don't have to worry about snow out here in the desert. I was in the snow once. The Boss took me up to Big Bear Lake a few winters ago. We stayed in a cabin in the woods. I got to chase after squirrels. It was pretty cool for a while. Then one morning I woke up and there was this white stuff on the ground. At first I thought, 'hell! someone been plucking chicken feathers and I'm going to get blamed'. I sniffed the stuff and it was wet and cold. I jumped into it and it was really wet and cold! I ran back in the cabin and didn't come out until The Boss started the car to go home. No snow for me thank you.
In the desert the things that make a Christmas isn't all that different from anywhere else: good friends, festive food, an expression of love and caring through the giving of gifts, etc. And music. Lots of Chrstmas Carols. …

29 Aug 2006, 04:42 by musica23Mississippi bluesman Jimmy Reed died of respiratory failure in 1976. He had suffered for years with alcoholism and epilepsy.
Reed lost much of the true respect he'd gained over the years due to his irresponsible drinking habit and the arrests and illnesses that went along with it. His career suffered as well, and he nearly disappeared popularity-wise.
While he finally received proper medical treatment, quit drinking, and attempted a comeback, it was too late. Jimmy Reed was only days shy of his 51st birthday when he died.
