Jimmy Kane was originally born in London, England where he lived for 8 years. It was there where he began taking classical piano lessons at the age of 4. After a 2 year stint in the city of Hong Kong, he moved to California in 1994 with his mother and has been there since. Being involved in academic music programs his whole life, and taking numerous private lessons, Jimmy thought it be a good idea to start a band in 1997, thus the band “Overlooked” was born. Since then, he has played in numerous bands on drums, bass and guitar, and has played all over the southern California circuit, including the Vans Warped Tour on ‘02 on the Drive Thru Records stage. But after years of playing in and out of bands, he realized that the biggest downfall for most bands were themselves. Some bands just reach a point where they get “too big for their britches” and practices turn into unproductive arguments of ego.
In 2006, Kane took a trip to Ashland, Oregon and began writing the songs that would be the album, “Shades of Grey”. He then spent 3 months in Europe, losing/finding himself… all the while writing and polishing his songs that seemed to pour out of him at the time. Upon returning to California, he moved to Hollywood where he began attending class at the Musician’s Institute. He was enrolled in the Recording Artist Program, which enabled him to learn the basics of recording engineering and it gave him the chance to record his music.
